Applications of Shaded Pole Motors
Shaded-pole motors are characterized by their low cost, simple structure, and wide range of applications; however, compared to other types of motors, they exhibit lower efficiency and lower starting torque. They are commonly utilized in devices such as fans, refrigerators, ovens, and fireplaces.
Shaded-pole motors have a simple structure, fewer components, and are less prone to damage, making them suitable for long-term continuous operation. Combining a shaded-pole motor with a cross-flow fan’s metal structure allows for applications in indoor ventilation systems, smoke extraction systems, and mechanical products requiring prolonged smoke extraction. Due to the absence of brush friction during operation, the noise of a shaded-pole motor cross-flow fan can be controlled below 45 dB, meeting the requirements of “long air duct, high air speed, and low noise.”
The exhaust fan motor is one of the most critical motors in a pellet stove. It drives the exhaust fan, drawing combustion gases out of the combustion chamber and expelling them into the flue, while simultaneously maintaining a negative-pressure combustion environment within the stove. Without a functioning exhaust fan, combustion becomes unstable, flue gases backflow, and the stove may automatically shut down, among other issues. Typical power ratings for this component range from 20 to 100 watts.
